Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 10/29/10
Thursday, October 28, 2010
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
As the growing season quickly comes to an end a few farmers in the south
central and southeast regions of the state are already being forced to feed
some hay. Lack of rain fall for much of the year prevented any stockpiling
of fall pastures in those two regions of the state. Corn and soybean harvest
is nearing completion statewide although some areas have been done for quite
some time Due to the month of Oct being as dry as anyone’s short term memory
could recall. Hay movement remains light as the majority of the state has an
adequate supply of hay for the time being. Demand is light and supply moderate
to heavy, currently hay prices are steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture
has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or
for a directory, visit, http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory (All prices f.o.b.
