Terry Wayne Mattlage, age 59, of Pierce City, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Cox Monett Hospital. Terry was born on Oct. 23, 1950, in Monett, Missouri, the son of the late Virgil Charles and Vera Marie (Lampe) Mattlage. Terry was raised on the family farm and was a 1968 graduate of Pierce City High School.
Terry owned and operated Rocky Acres Farms in Pierce City. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, Missouri, where he held several positions. At his death, he was serving as a board member on the Freistatt Farmers Exchange, the Farmers Agronomy Center, the Freistatt Rural Fire Association, the Lutheran Fire and Lightning Insurance Company and the MFA Oil Company in Aurora, as well as was serving as a Commissioner on the Mt. Pleasant Special Road District. He also served one term in the Missouri National Guard.
Terry married Ona Sue Dilbeck on April 19, 1975, in Freistatt, Missouri. She survives. Additional survivors include one son: Arthur Mattlage and wife, Desa, of Pierce City, Missouri; three daughters: Rebecca Jelinek and husband, Aaron, of Kansas City, Missouri; Vicki Black and husband, Michael, of Pierce City, Missouri; and April Hansen and husband, Luke, of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren: Katherine Jelinek, August Black and Liam Hansen; one aunt: Ruby Salgoa and husband, Bud, of Carthage, Missouri.
Funeral services for Terry will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 23, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt with Pastor Ryan Buchmueller officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at the Buchanan Funeral Home. Memorial contributions have been requested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Home Fund.
