Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 10/20/10

Receipts:  1028   Last Week:  988   Last Year:  741

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 higher
and slaughter bulls sold 1.00-2.00 higher.  Several herd dispersals were
included in the offering giving a heavy supply of bred cows and some good
quality cow/calf pairs. Demand was good for those take-home cows. Supply
and demand were moderate for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 925-1360 lbs most 725.00-925.00, several large lots black
and black white face from dispersals 950.00-975.00, 1st stage 1095-1290
lbs 650.00-825.00; short and solid mouth to aged 2nd and 3rd stage 1100-
1310 lbs 630.00-735.00. Large 1-2  4-6 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage 1400-1650 lbs
750.00-950.00; 1st stage 5 yr 1510 lb indiv. 845.00. Medium and Large 2
3-4 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage couple 860-1125 lbs 550.00-650.00, 1st stage

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-7 yrs 900-1340 lb cows w/babies
to 325 lb calves and some rebred most 900.00-1125.00, several black and
black white face pairs from dispersals 1250.00-1325.00; broken mouth to
aged 1085-1100 lb cows w/160-275 lb calves 785.00-875.00. Medium 1-2  4 yrs
to short and solid mouth 975-1050 lb cows w/babies to 275 lb calves 750.00-
975.00.
