For the Verona Lady Wildcat volleyball team life is good. Verona won the Golden City Tournament last Saturday and defeated Galena 25-10, 25-14 Tuesday night.
"We have gained some momentum lately," said Verona Head Coach Brad Stewart. "Our girls are playing with confidence. We take the court every night expecting to win."
In the win over Galena, Verona was led by Tristan Carrasquillo's six kills and seven blocks. Jessica Smith added three kills, three aces and 14 digs.
Verona was also aided by: Jenna Chadd, 11 assists; Taylor Pinkly, two kills and eight digs; Amanda Mullen; one kill and one block; Lynnsey Youngberg, one kill and three digs; Kelsei Krueger 100 percent serve accuracy.
The game was also the last regular season home game for Lady Wildcat seniors Krueger and Youngberg.
"We wanted to make sure that those two young ladies left here winners," said Stewart. "It has been a joy to coach them both."
Verona travels to Exeter Thursday night with an Ozarks 7 Conference championship on the line.
"It's going to be a battle," said Stewart. "We feel that our regular season has prepared us not just for this match but for districts next week.
"We hope to have a good group of our fans on hand for the game," added Stewart.
