There are a lot of "firsts" these days in Pierce City, especially when it comes to its softball team. The Lady Eagles have already secured their first conference and district championship. Now they are eyeing their first sectional playoff win.
"It's exciting," said Pierce City Head Coach Darin Henderson "This season has been a lot of fun. We still have some goals that we need to obtain, our work is not over."
Pierce City will host Crane (who also collected their first district win) tonight at 5 p.m.
"Crane has a good squad," Henderson said. "They hit the ball extremely well and play small ball, bunting to move runners over. We are going to have to be fundamentally sound if we are going to have much success."
The Lady Eagles defeated Crane earlier this season 8-6, but none of that matters now.
"We played them the first week of the season," Henderson added. "Each team has grown, They have developed a different personality. In order for us to be successful, we have to hit the ball like we did in districts, focusing on getting better each day.
"We would like to see a large crowd tonight to help cheer us on," Henderson added. "It means a lot personally to me and to the girls to know that our hometown is behind us."
