It's time for the 44th annual Apple Butter Makin' Days celebration on the square in Mt. Vernon beginning Oct. 8 and continuing through Oct 10.
The smell of apple butter cooking in copper kettles will fill the air as vendors of over 380 booths offer goods for sale for this three-day event. The historic celebration will also offer a variety of games and entertainment for young and old alike.
The annual Apple Butter Makin' Days Parade will kick off the festivities at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and booths will once again open at 10 a.m. Mt. Vernon's Liz Moriondo is slated to entertain.
A worship service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning, with booths opening again at 10 a.m. Several local churches will provide entertainment throughout the day.
