Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 10/4/2010

   Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold steady and slaughter bulls
sold steady to 1.00 lower. Most of the offering was purchased for slaughter.
The supply of bred cows was very light with most in the second stage and
cow/calf pairs were also very light. Cooler temperatures have brought frost
to the area the last couple mornings and have set up ideal growing conditions
for the cool season grasses. Supply and demand were moderate for slaughter
classes.

most 60.50-75.00, black indiv. 83.50; 3-7 yrs 830-1255 lbs 50.00-61.00.

Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-6 yrs most 2nd and a few 3rd stage 1125-
1305 lbs 660.00-860.00, 1st stage 1045-1265 lbs 675.00-760.00; short and
solid mouth to aged 2nd stage couple 1190-1230 lbs 610.00-615.00. Medium and
Large 2  3-5 yrs 2nd stage 895-1165 lbs 615.00-725.00; short and solid mouth
3rd stage 1165 lb indiv. 525.00. Medium 1-2  3 yrs to short and solid mouth
2nd stage 815-1090 lbs 510.00-650.00.

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-7 yrs 1030-1115 lb cows w/babies
to 325 lb calves 900.00-1075.00; short and solid mouth to aged 1080-1100 lb
cows w/babies to 160 lb calves 720.00-860.00. Medium 1-2  6 yrs pkg. 1030 lb
cows w/300 lb calves 800.00.
