Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 10/01/10

Thursday, September 30, 2010

After nearly giving up hope on fall pasture growth, the south central region
of the state saw noticeable improvement to pasture conditions, although the
southeast saw even farther declines several farmers in that area have been
forced to cull some herds as feeding hay before Halloween isnít that appealing.
Some hay equipment being pulled back out in the southwest as fall growth has
been better than expected. Farmers in the north focusing on trying to get grain
out of the fields and not getting combines stuck. The supply of hay is moderate,
demand light to moderate, and prices steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture
