In a special meeting of the Pierce City Board of Aldermen held Monday, Sept. 27, council members accepted the resignation of one of their members.
Pierce City's Ward 3 Alderman Larry Bartkoski resigned his position after aldermen at last month's meeting voted to return to the former scheduled meeting time of 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month.
In his letter of resignation, Bartkoski stated that the council had agreed to accommodate his work schedule by meeting on the second Thursday of the month. The return to the Monday schedule, Bartkoski claimed, would cost him approximately $800 in wages.
Bartkoski's resignation was effective immediately on Sept. 11.
In other business, Mayor Allen Stockton appointed two members to the city's Planning and Zoning Board. They are Dana Stanphill, whose term will end in 2010, and John Stricklin, whose term will end in 2014.
Other members of the Planning and Zoning Board include Andy Hogenmiller, John Vincent, Brian Jones, Tom Gripka and Richard Reed.
Stockton also appointed five persons to serve on the city's Board of Adjustment. They are Stricklin, who will serve until 2012; Jones, whose term will end in 2013; Gripka, who will serve until 2015; Hogenmiller, who will serve until 2011; and Stanphill, whose term will end in 2014.
The Board of Adjustment was created to handle requests for re-zoning portions of the city at resident's request.
One such request is currently on the table. Darren Clayton has requested that a lot at the corner of Morris and Pine Streets be re-zoned from residential to commercial property so he can start a tie mill business.
The request will now go to the Board of Adjustment for review.
