A concert and rally for the Tri-County Pregnancy Resource Center was held at Monett's South Park on Saturday.

Around 150 people gathered at the amphitheater for a concert by nine different performers and ensembles. Speakers included all six board members of the recently reopened center and Director Rebecca Haine.

"We've only been planning this since the beginning of August," Haine said. "To get all this turnout is really great."

The event was planned as a way to support the center's outreach program and services to pregnant women in Barry, Lawrence and Stones counties. Area churches were the target audience and provided several of the musical groups.

Haine said the offering raised $1,073. A drawing raised $82, and the sale of concessions, all of which had been donated, would further boost the total.

Pastor Tom Hargrove, of the Aurora Assembly of God. gave the invocation, and Monett Pastor Arnold Ray Evans gave the benefiction.

Board members Dana Hesington, Brady Hesington, Cliff Henry, Mark Lewis, Doug Evans and Dave Richards talked about making the concert an annual event. Saturday's rally also benefitted from ideal weather conditions.
