Monett tennis falls to Mt. Vernon

The Monett Lady Cubs tennis team fell to Mt. Vernon 3-6 Thursday night.

Monett lost two heartbreaking tie breakers which proved to be the difference.

"Mt. Vernon is much improved (over last year)," said Monett Head Coach Bob Crain. "We lost two matches that we had a chance to win. The girls battled hard, they just came up short."

In singles play Monett's Nurpa Desai and Theresa Mangler won their respective matches 8-5, 8-5.

In doubles, the dynamic duo of Kerry Tinklepaugh and Darian Shields prevailed 8-3.

Monett will be in action today in the Logan-Rogersville Tournament.
