Bi-county Republicans and Democrats will hold major annual gatherings in the coming week.
Republicans will meet on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Civilian Conservation Corps campground in Shell Knob. beginning at 6 p.m. Special speakers will include Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder and Billy Long, candidate for the Seventh District Congressional seat.
Lawrence County Democrats will hold their Truman Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Ernte Fest grounds on the north end of Freistatt. The event will begin with a lunch served at 11:30 p.m. Speakers will begin at 1 p.m.
Governor Jay Nixon, Missouri Treasurer Clint Zweifel, State Auditor Susan Montee and Robin Carnahan, candidate for the Seventh District Congressional seat, are all due to speak.
