Pierce City High School will celebrate homecoming next Friday.

The Eagles will take on the McAuley Warriors from Joplin. Theme for the week is "It's Me! Mario!" from the Mario Brothers video games.

Senior candidates for queen are Micayla Blinzler, daughter of Simone Massey and Michael Blinzler; Chelsi Curtis, daughter of Ivan and Judy Curtis; and Azia Donnini, daughter of Richard and Melissa Younker.

Other members of the royal court are junior attendant Elizabeth Younker, daughter of Carl and Judy Younker; sophomore attendant Emily Holland, daughter of Donnie and Ava Holland; and freshman attendant Megan Henson, daughter of Mark and Belinda Henson.

The queen will be crowned on the field of Don Keebaugh Stadium at 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, prior to kickoff at 7 p.m. A pep assembly will be held at 2:45 p.m. next Friday to introduce the royal court to the student body.

A variety of activities are planned as part of the celebration week. Monday will be the day for each of the grade levels to wear their class colors: yellow for seniors, red for juniors, blue for sophomores and white for freshmen. Tuesday will be a kind of scavenger hunt as students will hunt down hidden coins around the campus.

On Wednesday, the students will "be part of the kingdom" and wear their special Mario homecoming shirts and Mario mustaches. Thursday will be the students' chance to dress up as their favorite Mario characters. Friday will be Green Pride Day to wear school colors of green and white.

In addition, a jersey auction will be held on Tuesday after the home volleyball game. Students will bid for football jerseys to be worn during the homecoming game.

During the coronation ceremony, the children of Head Football Coach Mac Whitehead will participate. Garrison McVay Whitehead will be the crown bearer. Riley Jane Whitehead will be the flower girl. The children are the daughters of Melody Whitehead and Carey Whitehead.

The PCHS Student Council is sponsoring homecoming. MacKenzie Brittain is Student Council president. Jordan Saffer is homecoming chairman. Kathy Conley is the Student Council sponsor.

A dance will follow the football game in the high school cafeteria. Music will be provided by Kyle Slagle of SS Productions.
