Fall pastures have kicked in gear and begun to spring up in areas of the state that have had ample moisture. Pasture conditions statewide improved significantly over the past week in several areas. The south central and southeast however once again left out. Pasture conditions in those two areas is depressing to say the least, and with growing days ticking away it is starting to seem very unlikely pastures will recover this year, let alone allow for any stock piling of pastures before winter. Mean while many farmers to the north are once again looking at fields with standing water. Corn harvest has basically come to a standstill for most and several farmers once again trading the tires for tracks in hopes of making the combine float and not sink. The supply of hay is moderate, demand light to moderate, and prices steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
