Purdy to roll in fall baseball.
The Purdy Eagles (12-0) defeated Billings 11-2 Monday night.
Kevin Miller got the win. He pitched seven innings, allowed two runs and struck out four. Devon Bennett and Reese Stevenson each added solo home runs.
Last Friday, the Eagles won their Fall Classic tournament, beating Wheaton 10-0.
"We played well the entire week," Head Coach Joshua Hughes said. "We won five games last week. Beating Wheaton for the championship was the icing on the cake."
Veith got the win. He pitched six innings, allowed one hit and walked one.
The hit parade for Austin Hancock continued. He went three for three with two singles and two runs scored. Veith added two hits, and Bennett contributed three RBIs.
Purdy's pitching has been dominate in the last six games. Over that stretch Eagles' pitchers have only allowed eight hits and seven runs.
"That kind of pitching gives us a chance to win every night," Hughes said. "Our pitching staff has consistently dominated the opponents. We have a team ERA of 2.14 and opponents are batting .121 against us."
"I also don't want to forget about our defense," added Hughes. "We had no errors on Friday night and have only 14 total on the year."
The Eagles will be in action at Crane Thursday night.
