Monett falls in 10 innings to CJ

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

The Monett Lady Cubs fell 5-4 in 10 innings to the Carl Junction Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night.

"Carl Junction made a few more plays tonight," said Monett Head Coach Ty Goetz. "It hurts, because it was so close."

Carl Junction built a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth. Monett would tie the game scoring two runs in the frame. The Lady Cubs would go up 3-2 in the sixth.

Andrea Soriano singled and then moved to second on a passed ball. Paige Marney hit into a fielders choice moving Soriano to third.

Freshman Kelsey Wiseman ripped a double down the third base line, scoring Soriano.

Carl Junction would answer with a tiying run in the seventh.

The Lady Bulldogs would score one in the eighth, and Monett would answer.

Josee Krueger hit a one out triple and scored on a Marney single.

"We had clutch hitting tonight," Goetz said. "We just fell a little short."

The Lady Cubs will be in action Thursday night against Aurora.
