For three Purdy Lady Eagles, last Saturday marked the final time they would play a regular season home game in Purdy.
The outcome was far from a fairy tale ending. The Lady Eagles fell to East Newton 13-1 in six innings.
"We didn't play our best ball today," said Head Coach Jeff Swadley. "This is not the send-off we had envisioned for these seniors."
East Newton plated three runs in the first, two in the third and eight in the sixth.
Purdy's lone run came in the sixth inning. Brooke Swadley singled and scored two batters later off of a Rachel Neill single.
"Things kind of snowballed today," Swadley continued "We would make a mistake then try to correct it and we would make another mistake.
"I hope we learned today that we need to be more focused," Swadley continued. "If the girls weren't motivatived to play, that's my fault. But when you make a mistake you can't hang your head."
Purdy will play in the Hillcrest Tournament starting this Friday.
