Area runners shine at Monett

Monett High School hosted its 31st annual Cross Country Invitational Tuesday night at Monett's South Park.

Over 200 runners from several area schools competed.

The Monett boys cross country team placed sixth in the varsity class 3-4 division. Cubs' Chris Renteria finished eighth individually with a time of 17:47.9.

Other runners for Monett included: Isaac Weber, 22nd; Juan Renteria, 30th; Bill Townsend, 35th; Caleb Blue, 49th; and Aaron Morley, 56th.

In the boy's Class 1-2 varsity division, East Newton won.

Brett Sherwood placed sixth individually with a time of 18:41.0.

Other runners for East Newton included: Jared Hopkins, eighth; Weston Spencer, 15th; Angus Ben, 35th; and Nick Helvey, 44th.

Purdy boys finished seventh. Individually, Andrew McCormick finished 21st; Corey Kelley, 29th; Devon Keeler, 48th; Drew Williams, 62nd; and Josh Antle, 66th.

In the girl's varsity Class 1-2 division, Purdy's Audrey Patton finished fourth individually with a time of 24:15.2. Purdy's Nichole Terry finished 31st.

East Newton's Catlin Mayer finished in fifth place. Katie Stewart finished ninth, and Megan Lobitz finished 16th.

In the varsity Class 3-4 division, Monett's Hannah Martin finished ninth and Madeline Weber finished 13th.

Cassville's Jessica Barrentos finished 27th.

Junior varsity results from the meet had not been posted at press time.
