Verona clips Purdy in three sets

Friday, September 10, 2010

The Verona Lady Wildcats volleyball team defended its home court Tuesday night by defeating the Purdy Lady Eagles 22-25, 25-14 and 25-22.

"You have to give them (Lady Eagles) credit," said Lady Wildcats Head Coach Brad Stewart. "In the first set, they forced us into making too many mistakes."

The Lady Wildcats were led by Tristan Carrasquillo's 16 kills and two blocks. Jessica Smith added 12 kills and six aces. Jenna Chadd had 17 assists, two kills and four digs.

"Carrasquillo had a monster night," Stewart said. "She's a dominant hitter. That's what a good team has to have. The girls played well tonight."

The Lady Wildcats are 1-0 in conference play and 3-1 overall.

They host the Verona Tournament this Saturday.
