Mr. Terry Fuldner, age 82, of Destin, Florida, formerly of Monett, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on October 7, 1927, in St. Louis Children's Hospital to James and Wilhelmina (Eggert) Rutherford.
He was united in marriage to Eva Jeanne Dazey on December 28, 1949, and to this union three children were born. He later married Evelyn Hickman on November 16, 1968, and she passed away March 18, 2000. He then married Carolyn Anderson on November 24, 2000. She survives.
Terry graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1945 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Many in the community know Mr. Fuldner as the Co-Founder of EFCO. He opened the business in St. Louis in 1953 and moved it to Monett in October of 1958. In 1984, Terry was honored as the National Small Business Man of the Year. In 1992, he was named Greater Ozarks Business Hall of Fame-laureate, and in 1993, he earned the Engineering Alumni Achievement Award from the Washington University School of Engineering. In 1996, Terry was presented with The Missourian Award, and in 1997, he was inducted into the Glass Hall of Fame. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monett and the following organizations: Monett Masonic Lodge and the Abou Ben Adhem Temple of Springfield, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasons, Ancient Arabic Order of Noble of the Mystic Shrine, Advisory Director of UMB Southwest Bank, Board of Directors of UMB Financial Corporation-KC Missouri, Member of the Board of Missouri Colleges Fund and Member of the SMSU Foundation.
Terry is survived by his wife, Carolyn, along with two sons: Chris Fuldner, of Monett, Mo., and John Fuldner of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter: Sandra Coffman, of Lebanon, Mo; three step-sons: Craig Brewerton, of Arizona, Scott Lucas, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Matthew Lucas, of St. Joseph, Mo; one step-daughter: Kathryn Murray, of Bella Vista, Ark; one half-sister: Suzanne Brower, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren: Dr. Jaime Rudd, Kerry Watts, Scott Fuldner and Jacob Fuldner; six step-grandchildren: Jacob Lucas, Caitlin Lucas, Dessa Paul, Emma Paul, Devin Lucas and Elena Lucas; and three great-grandchildren: Beau Watts, Zachary Watts and Dawson Rudd.
Mr. Fuldner was preceded in death by his parents, and his first two wives.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church of Monett. Services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Walt Hamer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Monett, Mo.
