Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 09/10/10
Thursday, September 9, 2010
The majority of farmers have now put hay equipment up for the year as many are now thinking of grain harvest. Farmers in the southern half of the state have welcomed rains in hope for a revitalization of pastures. Many have been forced to cull some of the herd in south central MO as that area seen the most prolonged dry spell and made the decision to cut the herd rather than truck in hay to feed. The supply of hay is moderate, demand light to moderate, and prices steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
