Purdy downs Wheaton 10-3 in exciting softball action
The Purdy Lady Eagles took a big step toward securing a conference championship by beating Wheaton 10-3 last Friday night.
"Our girls played great," Lady Eagles Coach Jeff Swadley said. "Wheaton is a good team and well coached. Our girls were able to capitalize when the opportunities arose and that was the difference."
Purdy's Carleigh Hall got the win. She threw six and one-third innings, allowed four hits, three runs and struck out four.

"Carleigh threw 108 pitches tonight," Swadley said "She's just a competitor. She found herself in a couple of jams and was able to work out of them."
The Lady Eagles plated three runs in the bottom of the first. Wheaton answered with two in the top of the second.
Coach Swadley huddled his team and gave them some encouragement.
"I told the girls to relax and score more runs," Swadley added "They were still playing a little tight and needed to loosen up."
His team responded with two runs in the second and added four more in the fourth.
Taylor Moller went two for three with two RBIs. Brooke Swadley was three for four with two runs scored and three RBIs.
"These girls are very coachable," Swadley said. "Playing teams like Wheaton makes us better. Our girls never let down and played a solid game."
