Billy Long to stop in Monett Friday

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Billy Long, the Republican candidate for southwest Missouri's 7th District congressional seat, has announced plans for a small business tour that will include a stop in Monett.

On Friday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m., Long will visit Meek's Lumber Co., located at 827 Jerome Lane in Monett. Community members are encouraged to visit with Long during his stop in Monett.

Long will then travel to Mt. Vernon where he will attend the Ozark Cooperative's annual meeting in Mt. Vernon at 12:30 p.m.

Other campaign stops along the four-day tour were made at various businesses in Springfield, Bolivar. Joplin, Ozark, Crane and Branson.

"The employers and employees of small business are the backbone of our economy," said Long. "It is important for our next representative to take their message to Washington if we are going to find a solution to our economic problems.

"As a small businessman myself, that is just what I plan to do when the people select me to represent their interests in our nation's capital," Long added.
