PC splits games with Mac County, Sarcoxie

Friday, September 3, 2010

The Pierce City Lady Eagles earned a split in their last two contests.

The Lady Eagles lost to McDonald County 2-0 Thursday night.

"We never like to lose," Lady Eagles Coach Darin Henderson said. "But we played very well.

"The Lady Mustangs are a Class 4 school, and we hung with them all night," Henderson said. "We only struck out three times at the plate and against one of the better pitchers we will face all season."

Despite only getting two base hits Coach Henderson was pleased.

"The effort our girls played with was extraordinary," Henderson said. "We played solid defense and hit the ball hard. Credit McDonald County for being in the right place at the right time."

Sarah Stearns (2-1) took the loss. She tossed seven innings and allowed one earned run while striking out five.

In Tuesday night's contest, the Lady Eagles defeated Sarcoxie 15-0.

"The girls hit the ball as well as any team I have ever coached," Henderson said. "We were very aggressive and that caught the Lady Bears off guard."

Kaelyn Osborn had two hits, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Makina Kelly had two hits and three RBIs, and Brittany Young added two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases.

The Lady Eagles will be in action next Monday as they travel to Purdy.
