Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 09/03/10

Several farmers mostly in the southern half of the state have managed to 
get started on harvest as heat and dry conditions had several of the early 
planted fields mature. State wide eight percent of the corn crop has 
already been cut which is two days ahead of normal and much ahead of last 
years progress. Farmers in the north have also wrapped up most haying as 
they prepare for grain season. All harvest however was put on hold late 
week as rains fell over much of the state. Much of the south central 
region which has been extremely dry all summer managed to break the 
weather cycle with some areas seeing from 2-4 inches which will hopefully 
be in enough and in time for some much needed fall pasture growth. The 
supply of hay is moderate, demand moderate, and prices steady. Missouri
