According to Barry County Undersheriff Leonard Collins, the incident occurred Friday night about one-half mile south of Bates Corner when officers responded to a 911 call for assistance.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Christopher Brazel, 37, suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin. The bullet missed any vital organs and major arteries and the victim was treated at an area hospital and later released.
The suspect, Kimberly Brazel, 44, is the ex-wife of the victim. She has been arrested and charged with first degree assault with a dangerous weapon or instrument and armed criminal action.
A .22-caliber pistol was recovered at the scene.
Kimberly Brazel remains in custody at the Barry County Sheriff's Department in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
