The Monett Lady Cubs' softball team (4-1) had a very productive weekend going 3-1 and finishing second in the Ash Grove Tournament.
On Friday the Lady Cubs defeated Crane 9-3.
Paige Marney pitched seven innings, allowing eight hits, three runs and striking out three.
"Crane put us in a hole early," Lady Cubs' Head Coach Ty Goetz said. "They scored three runs in the first."
The Lady Cubs would explode for five runs in the fifth inning to give them the lead for good.
Katie Upchurch was two for four with two runs scored, Logan Swope went one for three with three RBIs.
On Saturday the Lady Cubs took second place in the Ash Grove Tournament.
In the first game the Lady Cubs handled Fair Grove 7-2.
Raigan Ratliff pitched five innings, allowing two runs, six hits, while striking out two batters.
Suppling the offensive production for the Lady Cubs were Josee Krueger who went two for three with two runs scored, Andrea Soriano was two for two with two runs scored and two RBIs.
The Lady Cubs then faced Aurora and won 3-0 in a defensive struggle.
"Our girls played great defense against Aurora," Goetz said. "We put a lot of runners on, but had a tough time scoring."
Ratliff pick up her second win of the day. She pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing only three hits and striking out three.
That win put the Lady Cubs in the tournament championship game against Bolivar.
The Liberators prevailed 8-5.
"We were not sharp in the Bolivar game," Goetz said "Credit them (Bolivar) with putting us in situations that we had not faced before. They were a quick and aggressive team on the bases and it really caused problems."
Lady Cubs' Marney took the loss allowing 10 hits, eight runs, while striking eight.
Andrea Soriano was one for four with two runs scored and Logan Swope was one for three with one RBI.
The Lady Cubs returned to action Monday at Republic.
