Lady Cubs tennis team edges Aurora in thriller

The Monett Lady Cubs' (2-1) tennis team defeated Aurora 5-4 in dramatic fashion Friday night.

"The girls gave tremendous effort tonight," Lady Cubs Head Coach Bob Crain said. "They played very well under pressure."

The Lady Cubs started off the night with winning singles matches from Carrie Robbins (8-2), Theresa Mangler (8-4), Katelyn Sperandio (8-4), Nurpa Desai (8-3).

Aurora would win the last two singles matches and the first two doubles matches to tie the score at 4-4.

In the final doubles match Monett's duo of Mangler and Sperandio held on for a 8-6 win. Breaking the tie and giving the Lady Cubs' the win.

The Lady Cubs' next match is Tuesday at Nevada.
