| Leon was the owner and operator of Vaughn's Trucking and Construction, starting the business in 1959 initially as a hay and wood hauler. He was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Monett, a past member of Monett Jaycees, and loved spending time with his family and his dog Sadie. Leon also had a passion for hard work and mowing lawns. Leon married Dolores Lombard on December 27, 1952 in Toledo, OR and she survives. | Additional survivors include two sons: Jerry Vaughn and wife, Linda, of Pierce City, MO; Danny Vaughn and wife, Julie, of Monett; three grandchildren: Chadd Vaughn and wife, Jennifer, Jacob Vaughn and Josie Vaughn, all of Monett; two twin great-grandsons: Lane and Grant Vaughn, of Monett; three sisters: Earline England, of Monett, Nadine Bearden, of Toledo, OR and Connie Gilette, of Neosho, MO. |
Leon was preceded in death by one son, Rick Vaughn; two brothers, Donald and Wayne Vaughn; and two sisters, Roxanne Cupp and Shirley Vaughn.
| Funeral services for Mr. Vaughn will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Chris Carver and Pastor Noel George will officiate. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. | The family will receive friends at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
