Congressional candidate launches tour in Barry County

Friday, August 27, 2010

Scott Eckersley, Democrat candidate for southwest Missouri's Seventh Congressional District seat, will start off his "Give 'Em Eck" tour with two stops in Barry County.

Eckersley will hold a noon press conference at the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville on Tuesday, Aug. 31 followed by a "Meet the Candidate" forum in the Monett Chamber of Commerce meeting room at 3 p.m.

The candidate has planned visits to all 10 counties in the Seventh District over the next three weeks. Eckersley will be in Mt. Vernon and Aurora on Sept. 3. At each stop, Eckersley will meet with local residents, visit area businesses and hold press conferences at each county courthouse.

"I'll be in every county, because there's never been a more important time for southwest Missouri's values to be represented in Washington," said Ecklersley.

Ecklersley will face off against Republican Billy Long in the November general election. Long was challenged to debate Eckersley at each of the county courthouses in the Seventh District's 10-county region. Long first accepted the invitation and then decided not to participate.
