Phyllis Kemp-Davis, age 86, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, August 26, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was blessed to have her family by her side. Phyllis was born to Robert & Vena (Long) Mustain on June 19, 1924 in Monett.
Phyllis attended school in Monett and graduated high school with the class of 1942. She later was employed by Curtis -- Wright Aircraft in St. Louis, MO. It was there she met her husband, Burton Kemp. Later they moved to Chicago, IL where they made their home for 30 years. During this time a son was born, Randy Kemp in 1955. Burton and Phyllis returned to Monett in 1977 to live and enjoy their retirement years.
Burton preceded her in death on October 20, 1984. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Randy Kemp II.
Phyllis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday School Class, member of the Women's Missionary Union and gave a helping hand to anything that was needed. She loved her God and lived her life daily for the Lord.
On November 11, 2007, Phyllis married Ralph Davis in Monett and he survives.
Additional survivors include one son: Randy and his wife, Judy, of Chicago, IL; one grandson: Robert Kemp, of Chicago, IL; one sister: Shirley Boucher, of Monett; and several nieces and nephews including Jane Frost and husband, Larry, of Pineville, MO and Julie Dean, of Bentonville, AR; Ralph's daughter: Lynn Scott and husband, Charles, of Purdy, MO; and son, Ralph Davis and wife, Darcy' of Spring, Texas.
|Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett with Dr. Bill Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30--10:30 a.m. Monday preceding the service. Memorial contributions have been requested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.||Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.|
