The event is a two day, 14-hour training course to be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 6 p.m.
| The training will include gun safety, information about firearms, ammunition, wildlife management and conservation, hunter responsibility to the landowner, wildlife and the environment. | The course will also teach a special section on outdoor ethics and hunter preparedness. |
Those individuals completing the course receive a Missouri Heritage card with a hunter education certification from the Department of Conservation. This certification is mandatory for anyone wanting to purchase a hunting permit.
Certification is limited to students 11 years and older. A birth certificate is required for students under 16. Pre-registration is also required and is limited to the first 60 applicants.
Students must bring a pencil, ink pen, highlighter, and Social Security number to class.
