Laura Severs

Laura Rose Severs, age 78, of Pierce City, died on Sunday, Aug. 22, at 6:16 a.m. at her home, near Pierce City. She was born on Monday, July 18, 1932 in Sarcoxie, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Wagner Wecker.

She married Dwight Severs on July 18, 1953 at Sarcoxie and he survives. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son: Greg Severs, of Monett; two daughters: Brenda McCracken, of Monett and Laura Wrobleski, of Pierce City; two sisters: Phyllis Gasser and Jeanette Lugar, of Pierce City; three brothers: Duane and Fredrick Wecker, of Pierce City and Edward Wecker, of Oronogo; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Severs was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 with Rosary service held at 7:30 p.m. at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church and Father Peter Morciniec officiated. Burial was at the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery near Sarcoxie.
