Purdy Eagles roll in baseball opener

Wednesday, August 25, 2010
The Purdy baseball team notched its first win of the season in impressive fashion, beating Hurley 20-0.

Eagles Head Coach Joshua Hughes was very surprised.

"I knew our pitching would be a strength this year," Hughes said. "But the way the boys swung the bats was a complete and pleasant surprise."

Reese Sevenson and Devon Bennet each went three for three and had three RBIs. Cody Hall Drove in four runs. All nine starters hit safely in the game.

Riley Veith got the win, pitching four innings allowing one hit while striking out 10.

The Eagles baseball team hits the road and travel to Exeter Friday. First pitch will be at 5 p.m.
