Pierce City Lady Eagles softball split opening games

The Pierce City Lady Eagles softball team downed the Patriots of East Newton, 4-3 on Monday.

Lady Eagles' pitcher Sara Stearns (1-0) earned her first victory. Stearns pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out three.

The Lady Eagles' Brittany Young had two hits and oe RBI, Kaelyn Osburn and Makina Kelly had two hits.

In Tuesday night action the Lady Eagles fell to Nixa 12-0.

The softball team will be in action Thursday at home against Crane.
