Springfield, MO - Livestock Marketing Center: Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 08/18/2010

   Compared to last week, feeder steers traded 1.00 to 4.00 higher. Feeder 
heifers sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher with many instances of 6.00 to 7.00 higher 
after last week’s slight decline. A brief but very welcome break to the recent 
extreme heat gave producers a chance to get their stock to town. A Wean-Vac 
Special was held in conjunction with the regular weekly feeder sale and most of 
those consignments found their way to the top of the price spreads. Supply 
moderate and demand moderate to good. The feeder supply consisted of 44 percent 
steers, 13 percent Holstein steers, 36 percent heifers and 7 percent bulls; 43 
percent of all the feeders weighed over 600 lbs.
