Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 8/16/2010

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Receipts: 415 Last Week: 449 Last Year: 488

Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 higher and
slaughter bulls sold 1.00 higher on a light supply. A couple packer buyers
were needing meat and created an aggressive slaughter market today.
Temperatures have finally moderated making life a lot easier for both man
and beast. There was a light supply of bred cows most of which were 2-6 yrs
of age and a moderate supply of cow/calf pairs mostly short and solid mouth
to aged. Supply was moderate and demand good for slaughter classes.
