Monett Cubs soccer is ready to kick season off

Thursday, August 12, 2010

The 2010 Monett Cubs soccer team kicked off its season with its first practice on Monday, Aug. 9.

"We're excited," head Coach Jeremy Wilson said. "I really like this team, it has great potential. The kids are working real hard to develop their fundamental skills and team chemistry," said Wilson.

While the tempratures outside are soaring, the coaching staff is taking every precaution to ensure the saftey of all the players.

"We are taking several water breaks. With tempratures over 95 degrees, we want to keep our kids safe," said Wilson.

"We want to teach these kids more than the game of soccer. We want to teach to make the right decisions, both on the field and off," said Wilson.

The Cubs open the season with a home game on Sept. 2 against the Aurora Houn' Dawgs.
