Charles Joe Marrett, age 69, of Webb City, Mo. passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010. Charles was born January 10, 1941 in Webb City, Mo. to Joe Dugan and Pearl May Buchanan Marrett.
He attended Webb City High School and spent most of his life in the Southwest Mo. area. He was a Purdy resident from 1968 to 1980 and he worked at the G&R Co. in Monett, Mo. He later owned and operated Marrett's Paint and Trim in Webb City. He had previously worked several years in Houston, Texas. He retired in the spring of 2005 due to ill health.
He married Gloria Jean Rutherford in 1959 and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son: Charles Russell "Rusty" Ewing Marrett; and a niece: Pam Collins.
Survivors include a daughter: Traci Wodinger and husband, Michael of Vail, Colorado; two grandsons: Todd Marrett of Joplin and Kyle Marrett of Carterville; one great-grandson: Drew Marrett of Joplin; one brother: Bob Marrett and wife, Patty of Webb City; one nephew: Bobby Marrett and wife, Teresa and their three sons of Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Charles will be remembered for having an open-door at his home, a spare bedroom for anyone in need and always being ready for a hand or two of poker or a few games of dominoes with his buddies.
A good day for Charles included spending time with his brother, telling his daughter what to do, placing an interesting bet, and shooting the breeze over a cold beer.
|Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 at the Sarcoxie, Mo. Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13 at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel in Webb City.||Memorial contributions are requested to the Shriner's Hospital For Children in care of the funeral home.|
