Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 8/09/2010

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Receipts: 449 Last Week: 376 Last Year: 399

Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 lower and slaughter
bulls sold 1.00 lower. Heat stress has become a major factor for producers to
deal with when moving livestock, and all indications are that it will remain
that way the rest of the week. The offering of bred cows was light but quality
was good on the few traded. Cow/calf pairs were very light with most being
short and solid mouth to aged. Supply was moderate and demand moderate to good
for slaughter classes.
