Summer is busy at Crosslines

Friday, August 6, 2010

"Things have been normal at Crosslines for this time of year...busy!" reported Jolene Garoutte, director of the not-for-profit organization.

Garoutte noted that Curves, the exercise and fitness center in Monett, had recently donated over 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items, diapers and laundry products. She also recognized members of Community Church for collecting 90 jars each of peanut butter and assorted jellies.

Andy Branch has been appointed to the board, replacing Jerry James, who retired from the position due to health reasons. Branch has been affiliated with Crosslines for a number of years, serving as a computer consultant.

Garoutte reported that the organization had assisted 41 families for the quarter including utilities, rent, food, clothing, funerals, household cleansers and personal items, furniture, eyeglasses, and doctor visits, among other services rendered.

Garoutte announced that Lisa Turnbough has been hired to fill a vacancy at the center. Turnbough had previously worked at the center and is already trained.

The next board meeting will be at 7 p.m., August 9, at the center located at 510 E. Cleveland.
