The Monett Police Department participated in the "You Drink and Drive, You Lose" campaign on July 10.
Officers participated in a joint effort with the Southwest Missouri DWI Task Force. The enforcement crackdown was aimed at making motorists think twice about traffic safety.
During the enforcement effort, officers issues 32 traffic tickets including four for driving while intoxicate and 28 for other traffic violations.
"When we remove a drunk driver from the roads, we're all safer," said Monett police Chief Tim Schweder. "Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to drive sober.
Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri. In 2009, 268 people were killed and 1,134 were seriously injured in traffic crashes involving an impaired driver.
