Clerk's office to have Saturday hours to vote

Area residents will have the opportunity to cast absentee ballots for the Aug. 3 primary election at the county clerks' offices in Cassville and Mt. Vernon.

Voting can be done at the Barry County Clerk's office from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 31.

Absentee voting will continue through Monday, Aug. 2. Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at both county clerks' offices. Individuals must present one form of identification, such as a driver's license or a voter registration card, in order to vote.

Area residents who are unable to vote absentee in person can request an absentee ballot by mail. Written requests for Barry County should be mailed to Gary Youngblood at 700 Main St., Suite 2, Cassville MO 65625 or faxed to 417-847-5311. Written requests for Lawrence County should be mailed to Gary emerson, 1 Courthouse Sqquare Suite 101, Mt. Vernon MO 65712.

Requests need to specify a political party to get the correct ballot.

Requests must also include the following information: the date of the election; the voter's name, physical address, mailing address, phone number and date of birth; the last four digits of the voter's Social Security number; the reason for voting absentee; and the voter's signature. Ballots must be requested by Wednesday, July 28.
