Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/23/10

   Water once again a problem in the north half of the state some areas in 
the northeast reported in excess of eight inches this week.  Some locations 
in the south are finally starting to see some moisture but the majority of 
pastures are rated poor to very poor. Despite the weather farmers have 
managed to get hay baled with progress of both alfalfa and grass hay 
slightly ahead of last year and only a day or two behind average. The one 
downfall is rains and delayed harvest has had an impact on quality in many 
cases. The supply of hay is moderate, demand moderate, and prices steady.
