Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/16/10

   Heat indexes pushing well past the three digit mark covered the state 
this week. Many farmers got back to the fields adding to the total acres 
of hay harvested this year.  According to the estimated crop production 
report released last week, farmers are expected to harvest more acres 
this year which is no surprise as many entered the year with little to 
no carryover the mind set to rebuild supplies. The additional acres were 
added as mixed grass hay as the states alfalfa harvest is expected to 
decline. The supply of hay is moderate, demand moderate, and prices 
steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available
