|Herschel G. Roden, age 90, of Cassville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, July 9, 2010 at the St. John's Hospital in Cassville. He had resided at the Red Rose Inn in Cassville for the last eight months.||Herschel was born on January 12, 1920 in Monett, MO, the son of the late George G. Roden and Lela Belle (Baker) Roden. Herschel had attended school in Monett before joining the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II. Herschel worked for Friend Tire as a Night Watchman, retiring in 2005.|
|He had attended Easyville Fundamental Methodist Church and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Herschel married Elsie Young in June of 1952 and they divorced in 1973. Of this union three children were born. Survivors include two sons: Steve Roden and his wife, Joyce, of Purdy, MO; Dennis Roden, of Purdy; one daughter: Hersella Roden, of Pleasant Ridge, MO; one brother: Robert "Bob" Roden and wife, Leota, of Cassville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.||Herschel was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Lester "Leck" and Ralph Roden; and two sisters: Ruth Hayward and Irene Roller.|
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Bethel Cemetery, south of Monett. Reverend Larry Lowry will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
