Launa Saxton

Launa Verne Saxton, age 62, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 10:56 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her home. She was born on May 22, 1948 in Inglewood, California, the daughter of Vernon Glen "V.G." and Georgetta Lee (Farmer) Williams I.

Launa graduated from Drury University with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and was currently employed as a caseworker for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Springfield.

Those surviving her include; six children: Heide Lange of Portland, Oregon; Brenda Rich of Springfield, Missouri, and Timothy Lange of Los Angeles, California and their father, Harry Alan Lange, Amber Gladson and her husband, Matt, Larry "Sonny" Saxton, Jr. and his wife, Brandi, and Dustin Saxton, and their father Larry Saxton, Sr., all of Springfield; three brothers: Vernon Glen Williams II and his wife, Terra, of Monett, John Williams and his wife, Kathy, of Aurora, and Russell Williams of Verona; one half sister, Marlana; ex-husband, Leon "Butch" Tinsley; 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her father Vernon Glen Williams I and his wife, Katherine "Katie"; her mother, Georgetta Farmer; and her daughter Rebecca Lange; and one sister Katie May Williams preceded her in death.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Calton Cemetery, south of Pleasant Ridge. Those wishing to follow in procession to the cemetery should meet at the funeral home on Saturday no later than 1:30 p.m.

As suggested by the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
