Gilbert Otto Ehrhardt, age 74, of Freistatt, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt. Vernon, MO. Gilbert was born on October 26, 1935 in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Otto Ehrhardt and Margaret (Frosdorfer) Ehrhardt.

He had attended and graduated from Aurora High School, SMSU, and the American Institute of Banking. Gilbert served his country from 1955-1958 in the United States Navy. For over 26 years, Gilbert had worked for Schreiber's in Monett, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. He was also an avid fisherman and golfer.

On February 23, 1963 in Pierce City, MO, Linda Harvey and Gilbert Ehrhardt were united in marriage. They were blessed with over 47 years of togetherness. She survives. Additional survivors include two sons: Matthew Ehrhardt and wife, Clarissa, of Monett; and Jason Ehrhardt and wife, Andrea, of Freistatt. Five grandchildren: Alexis, Jason Jr., Shaylee, Garrett and Grady. Three sisters-in-law: Thelma Fisher and husband, Chris, of Trimble, MO; Gloria Abramovitz and husband, Jim, of Hobe Sound, FL; and Nancy Stroud and husband, Jerry, of Monett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Bill Harvey. Funeral services for Mr. Ehrhardt will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt with Pastor Ryan Buchmueller officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 9 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions have been requested to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School or to the Lutheran Braille Workers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
