Lady golfers host tournament

Members of the Monett Ladies Golf League hosted their annual Guest Day on June 22 at Windmill Ridge Golf Course in Monett.

A total of 56 ladies participated in the two-person scramble. Participants travelled to the Monett course from: Neosho, Cape Fair, Cassville, Seligman, Stotts City, Mt. Vernon, Carthage, Carl Junction, Springfield, Joplin, Reeds, Ozark, Shell Knob, Noel and Branson in Missouri; Bella Vista and Rogers in Arkansas; Tulsa and Quapaw in Oklahoma; Baxter Springs, Galena and Columbia in Kansas; and Alexandria, Va. The ladies enjoyed playing on the Monett course and commented that the course was very well maintained. Many golfers said they would return to play on the course in the future.

Following the tournament, ladies attended a catered luncheon at the Monett Park Casino where door prizes and a basket were awarded.

Winners in the special contests were: most accurate drive, Susie Jacobs, of Cassville; longest putt on #5, Winnie Strong, of Monett; closest to the pin on #10, Candace Wright, of Neosho; longest drive on #15, Tini Cox, of Baxter Springs, Kan.; and closest to the pin on #17, Virginia Davis, of Springfield.

Flight winners were: A Flight: Patti Powers and Rita Moore, of Joplin first place; Sandye Boyes and Terri Cox, of Baxter Springs, Kan. second place; and Janie Watson and Leta Higgs, of Cassville, third place.

B Flight: Candice Wright, of Neosho and Peggy Blair, of Noel first place; Mary Hunt and Jo Hogan, of Bella Vista, Ark. second place; and Lisa Reiff and Anne McClintock, of Rogers, Ark. third place.

C Flight: Andy Jackson and Diane Hume, of Bella Vista, Ark. first place; Jackie Rose and Susie Jacobs, of Cassville second place; and Wretha  Brooks and Edna Stockdale, of Bella Vista, Ark. third.

D Flight: Nancy Pyle, of Carthage and Kathy Vann, of Carl Junction first place; Dixie Latshaw and Winnie Strong, of Monett second place; and Kathy McWalters, of Quapaw, Okla. and Betty Moss, of Galena, Kan. third place.
