Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 6/23/10

Receipts:  567   Last Week:  883   Last Year:  735

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold
1.00-2.00 higher. The heat had a significant impact on receipts this week,
and with the lower numbers it was more of a challenge for slaughter buyers
to fill their orders, resulting in higher prices. The offering included some
nice young black and black white face bred cows but cow/calf pairs were very
light. Supply was light and demand good for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 960-1340 lbs most 675.00-875.00, several better quality black
and black white face in large lots 950.00-1025.00, 1st stage 950-1175 lbs
700.00-885.00. Large 1-2  5 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage couple 1500-1550 lbs
885.00-915.00. Medium and Large 2  2-6 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage couple 1040-

lb cows w/newborn to 160 lb calves 850.00-875.00. Medium 1-2  5 yr 1025 lb
cow w/baby calf 800.00.
